Recycle Your Empty Xerox & Canon Cartridges
Rainbow Sales Ltd supplies genuine Xerox toner and Canon imagePROGRAF / PIXMA inks. When those supplies are empty, the responsible next step is to return them through the manufacturer’s own recycling programme. We do not operate an in-house empties collection, remanufacturing line, or prepaid Rainbow Sales returns bag for used cartridges.
Xerox — Green World Alliance / Cartridge Collection Programme
Xerox runs an established supplies take-back scheme (often called Green World Alliance) so genuine Xerox toner, drums and related supplies can be remanufactured or recycled instead of going to landfill.
- - UK overview: Xerox Cartridge Collection Programme (UK)
- - Europe Eco Box / pickup requests: GWA Ecobox – Europe
- - Single-item return labels (where available): GWA Single Item Returns
Typical options (confirm on Xerox’s site, as processes change):
- 1. Single-item returns — reuse the new cartridge’s packaging, request an authorised Xerox return label, and drop the parcel at an approved point.
- 2. Eco Box returns — for larger volumes, request empty eco boxes and/or a pickup of full boxes.
Only authorised Xerox return labels and genuine Xerox supplies are accepted under the programme. Third-party consolidators are generally not authorised — follow Xerox’s published rules.
Canon — Cartridge Recycling Programme (UK)
Canon has offered cartridge recycling since 1990. Genuine Canon toner and inkjet / imagePROGRAF tanks can be returned using Canon’s freepost labels or bulk box options.
- - Canon UK recycling hub: Canon Cartridge Recycling Programme
- - Inkjet freepost labels: Canon Inkjet Cartridge Recycling
- - Toner freepost label request form: Canon Toner Recycling Form
Steps in brief (always follow the live Canon instructions):
- 1. Confirm the empty is a genuine Canon cartridge or tank.
- 2. Request a freepost label (inkjet download / toner form) or a bulk collection box if you are returning larger quantities.
- 3. Pack securely and post or arrange collection as directed by Canon.
What Rainbow Sales will and will not do
| We will | We will not |
|---|---|
| Link you to official Xerox and Canon programmes | Promise free Rainbow Sales collection of empties |
| Help you identify the OEM part number of what you bought | Accept third-party or remanufactured empties into manufacturer schemes |
| Continue selling genuine OEM supplies that are eligible for OEM take-back | Mix recycling with product returns for credit (those are separate processes) |
If you ordered the wrong new item, use our standard returns process (unopened, resalable) — that is different from recycling used empties.
